Born to Scots-Irish Gypsies, Dean Denney busied his earlier years by not at all considering what he should do when he grew up. Consequently, he spent time restoring historic homes through North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. He also spent several years in Savannah, walking back and forth between Pinkie Master's and Moon River Brewing Company, and drawing crap. When money became tight, he took to several new career paths, including slacker and septic tank decorator. This ultimately lead to his becoming a tattoo artist.

Dean currently resides with his wife, who enjoys hitting inanimate objects, and their beloved animals, including two dogs named Hank. One of the Hanks believes he can fly. The other Hank isn't impressed with the first Hank.
